Sensrad wins ESA contract to extend Oden Drive into radar-based localization

Supported by the ESA NAVISP Programme, Sensrad is develping radar-based navigation and localization.

The project aims to further develop Oden Drive and leveraging on Sensrad’s imaging radar technology, Hugin D1. By exploiting the rich spatial and Doppler information inherent in Sensrad’s imaging radar, the Oden Drive system will deliver highly accurate positioning with increased redundancy, particularly in challenging environments where GNSS signals are unreliable or unavailable. Unlike optical sensors, which can be heavily affected by dust, rain, fog, darkness, or other limited-visibility conditions, imaging radar enables robust perception and localization under challenging environmental conditions. This approach promises enhanced robustness and enables safe, reliable positioning across a wide range of operating scenarios.

We are excited to collaborate with ESA on pushing the boundaries of radar-based navigation and localization technologies.
